We are excited to announce that Pastor Mike Shaw has been called to be Central's new interim pastor.  Brother Shaw retired from First Baptist Church Pelham on May 31, 2014 after 35 years of service.  He first starting pastoring at Carrollton Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA.  He served as pastor of Munford Baptist Church (1973-1976) and of Millry Baptist Church (1976-1979) before he was called to serve as pastor of First Baptist Church Pelham on May 15, 1979.

Besides serving as a pastor, Brother Shaw also served as president of the Alabama State Convention for two terms (2010-2012), on the board of directors for The Alabama Baptist for two terms (1987-1995) and The Alabama Baptist's chairman of the board (1993-1995).

Since Brother Shaw's retirement from FBC Pelham, he has served interim pastor for churches around the Birmingham area to help bring them through to finding a new full-time pastor for their churches.

Brother Shaw and his wife, Mary, have two children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We are happy to have the Shaw's serving at Central and we look forward to getting to know them more, and having Mike's leadership and guideance as we move forward in the life of Central Baptist Church.

  • Pastor Dewey Corder

Pastor Dewey Corder served as pastor at Central for over 24 years.  He was an extraordinary man of God, leader of the flock and loved everyone.  Brother Dewey passed away on December 25, 2020 after a major cardiac incident due to complications from Covid.  We will miss Brother Dewey dearly and we are honored to have had him at Central.  Please continue to pray for the Corder family and our Central Baptist Church family as we move forward into the future of God's church.
